Don't you have your 17's on your back?
i believe that's where the s13 picks up its speed. put some 15's back on the back and see if it's better.

The Speed sensor is on the tranny i belive passenger side. Make sure connections are good. and if it has been removed it may have stripped out the teeth on the plastic gear of the sensor.

I would say either the sending unit in the tranny is shot, or the gauge is not working properly. Easy fix: buy an inexpensive GPS and use that as your speedo.

Prolly a bad speedo assy. We have the squads come in all the time going 130 while idling, and we send the cluster out to fix it.
