My plan is drift car on a budget.
Plan is S13 probably hatch.
Getting ideas for a tubed front end.
Welded diff.
Stage 3-4 clutch.
Light flywheel n driveshaft.
Volk Te37's or probably replicas. Lol

And my biggest question and decision is what motor should I buy? I'm stuck between an RB, SR20DET, and KA-T. Want 300-400 hp stock internals.

sohc is waaaaaay better than the dohc. Only thing it doesnt have is a big aftermarket behind it like the dohc. sohc will take a lot more abuse.

And your budget is blown by tubing the front and buying te's or even reps.

Stock body, se wheels, a nice seat, sohc, and spend the rest on suspension.

Lets face it. Your new to it so dont build a racecar rite off the bat. Learn in something crusty so you dont feel soo bad when you wreck it the first day out. Also if the 160hp sohc (or w/e it has) isnt good enough. Find a 350 chevy and youll be in your budget still.

Alot of that isn't really "needed" A diff, some Suspension and a decent seat and you would be good. A clutch upgrade is a good choice, You can fit some good sized wheels without needing to tube the front fenders.

and for 300-400hp on stock internals. you are either gonna need a GOOD tune on a KA or SR and still be on somewhat borrowed time, or do a Inline 6 or a V8. Then again 305whp and 405hp is a BIG difference.

Alright new plans then, a 240sx, gut it, all new suspension, weld the diff. New clutch n fly.
And I feel like a I6 or V8 would be expensive. I was originally thinking 1jz but I was talked out of it cause the price.

JZ stuff gets expensive yes. But so does attempting to build a 400hp SR/KA

Maybe, and I mean maybe at first, but at the 300-400 hp you want to make, you're money ahead and more reliable.

dont bother attempting a 400hp ka. After 300 the reliability is gone. Sr is very do-able but by the time your done with it. Youll have spent what it costs to go 1/2j. RB's are decent stock but heavy and not as reliable as the 1/2j. Youll find that the 1/2j are much more forgiving. But chevy 350 is stupid cheap because there are soo many of the damn things and everyone is going LS. Thats cheaper than an LS or 1/2j and youll make 400hp reliably. Only down side is the cast iron block is heavy as fuck. so dont expect the car to handle like it did when you had a ka in it.

But serioulsy, dont bother trying to make power until you understand what your doing behind the wheel. I guarantee youll wreck the car. So dont spend a boat load of money on a crazy power plant thats way more than your abilities can handle. 200hp is plenty to get your dick wet behind the wheel just starting out.

The motor itself is stock for internals
But the turbo set up is a full cxracing kit
Check it online
With bigger injectors (which I also have)
And a maf and tune.
You can easy make 300-350hp
Private message me for more info and price and such

The whole turbo setup is brand new never ran or used
Miles on the motor and trans 101xxx.

Sounds fucking amazing lol and yeah I plan on keeping it stock till I got that under control then boosting it on like 7lbs. Then finding a swap.

What are you talking about?
Its not someone else's build.
Its a motor and trans together
And a turbo kit brand new. Only thing on the motor is the manifold
Everything else is in the box still

an SR swap done well is easily 5-7K, so yeah I am sure a 1J is easily 7k plus because it takes more custom parts to install it.

Good Luck!

PJs swap sounds like a great setup. 2cents

yeah traphikcod4's setup for the price is a good setup for getting your feet wet with a turbo car on a budget.

a JZ Swap for $7k Is a pretty decent price, Thats going to be a fairly stock JZ setup as the wiring/mounts/parts/etc get pretty expensive not to mention the $2000-$4000 for a motor/trans.
