PostSubject: Softer coil-overs?   Fri Apr 08, 2011 4:46 pm

Alright, I've looked around and the softest set of coil-overs I've seen are 7K frt./ 5K rear. This seems quite stiff to me, and if anyone has experienced which coils ride better than others at these rates or knows of softer ones, I would like to hear about it.

I mostly street drive the car, with the occasional drag strip run and a lot of spirited driving. I'm mostly looking for more clearance for larger wheels/tires. I just don't wanna rattle my teeth out on these WI roads. Rolling Eyes

Thanks to all in advance.

Check these bishes out. I read a few reviews awhile back for other cars G35, 350, etc. they said that they were nice and soft but still ran stiff enough for the weekender. I was actually considering them. They r 6 in the front 4 in the rear.

Not a bad price either for a quality product. Shop around a little, I believe I have found them for under 900 already.

I guess... I just hate the "so low to the ground it feels like you're riding on 2x4s" ride

I would get a standard size coilover spring setup, and get swift race springs in any spring rate you want.

So buy a set of coilover that have 65mm ID springs. Then buy swift springs in a way lower rate. It will be a pure bolt on affair as the spring ID and height are all standard.

I would type way more but I am being rushed by the g/f to go to dinner.

I'll link you up when I get back.

Fortune Auto makes a "drag" spec coilover. from what i heard its pretty badass.

or IF/WHEN you can find them, the old HKS hypermax drag's for a s14 are "drag" coils as well. so that would be what you should be looking into.

Ok, I have time to type now.

I run KTS coilovers and they run 65mm ID springs. I chose those coilovers specifically because of the 65mm ID spring so I can get the Swift springs in any rate that I want should I decide to change from 8/6 to something stiffer or softer.

If you just check the specs of really any "JDM" coilover system you can find the specs for the ID and height of springs. If you cant find the specs then they are surely not worth running (not that you dont know that).

I dont have a list of specific 65mm ID coilovers but Swift also makes them in 60mm ID. This practically blankets the entire market of coilovers as usually they are either 65mm or 60mm.

Here is a link from SPL on the springs themselves and the rates you can get them in.

Standing height is a must as well when you order them as you can see. A ruler will figure this quickly. Very Happy

I bought tien flex's for this very reason. My kidneys thanked me. I had megans before which beat the ever living shit out of me.

6/5k are the rates

BTW> if you want a used set, I have a friend who is selling a set as far as I know. Shoot me a PM if you want his contact info.
