if you are going to run e85 then go closer to 14:1 lol. i know the sr can run 13:1 on 93 octane. not sure about the ka though. but with e85 you can pretty much run as much as you want

no. n/a engines need better flowing heads to make power. a turbo just smashes air through the head. it kind of masks bad flowing heads. porting it will free up mid range and top end power. most of your power will come from a nice flowing head and a matching cam/intake manifold/header.

sweet. so what kinda ratios am i trying to keep in mind with cams, lifters, valves and ports. is there like a rule of thumb? is there like a HP calculator?

There is a computer program called 'desktop dyno' that I used to use... Now I'm sure there's better software.

wow cant believe how much flaming goes on ,with other sites when someone just makes a KA24DE N/A build a fun thing and turn it into some fuel war!!! why is it that RACE fans like gt3 drivers and road racing fight about street driven cars? its street driven not raced! i think pepole are forgetting or confusing MOD class with RACE class and try to make some hybrid dumb idea like its cool. its sad ive read 2 articles about KA power reaching 200rwhp ,out of 250post 40 were about the build! the rest were flames. on the up side i have leared a bit but still need more reasearch.

i love fast and the furious chain movies but there fucking this realm up with kids dumb ideas and stupid risk not worth taking. ever since thouse movies its all about i bolt on a sticker with my ebanator intake and crigs lst stack intake for 500HP . man it kills me i love speed and its costly! but i do it for the rush and joy of driving, not to race the dumb ass kid with a stock turbo evo and a shit load of sticker , to the next light!



AUGhhhh anyways, sorry had to vent........if anyone can help me out as far as bottom end build as far as reliable if it make 300 cool if not im not going to war over it.....but it is my goal.

i am still tryingt to figure out a prpoer mix , not really sure what mix would work and wich ratios will be good for band power across, still trying to find more info on line but i get alot of flaminf and no info. what would you do jim?> what would u go with?

To get a 4 cyl to this level, you are going to drastically reduce it's life. You might as well just leave it "stock" per say and save up for your ls. You'll be money ahead.

i agree with 600 on the v8 thing, but didnt want to say anything about it since you seem to change your mind on the car every week. If you want quick n/a horse power and dont have the funds for an ls, theres always the poor mans race motor. 350 chevys can be had for $500 or less as a long block then you just need to mount it. Throw a nice carb on it and your beating 600s ls in the quarter mile. Its just going to suck going into corners since the car will be really nose heavy with the cast iron block in it. Just another thought, plus you will spend 1/10th what you would on building a 300whp n/a ka24de.

You will spend a lot to mod a strong KA not that it won't be fun or the outcome any less rewarding to you. If you are looking for bang for buck power I suggest a V-8 also. I have a SR20 and have spent a lot of money to get it to a point where I might be able to keep up with an older unmodified LS. I will admit I think that is a stretch though. Just build it how you want and have fun, this is a hobby not an investment.

Just research research research. Here is another option for you, it should get you to your power goal easily www.ka24der.com Supercharger kit for a decent price. But if you go NA you should get ITB's. Get throttle bodys of a gsxr 1000 or something like that. That would be sweet

idk where you find 91 around here. last place i saw 91 was somewhere out west.

i was assuming he would be using the local 93 octane for his build.

guys , guys ..... look this is just me sharing an IDEA that was put forth to me by the OWNER of the car my fiance. i am just the wrench and muscle. i dont know spec's and ratios and all that. i just read what i can and learn best i can. if she want 300hp ka then that she will get. if she want a ls swap then ill work to that end but ultimatley u forget , its not my car guys i just try to do best i can to keep here happy. even if at times she drives me mad.

i agree with jim (600sx) if you want raw power, and still make it street and reliable...
go v8, or another stock "all motor power" that is in your wanting hp range... vh45, ls, ect...
