They do make composite bolts, but their use seems limited.

The CF washers are mainly for appearance. They look very easy to make, and I am setting up my work table and will make some washers for myself tonight.

With 3 ply CF, the material cost alone for 50 would be more than $20. Just sayin..

Also very interested in finding a company that will make me a CF valve cover.

all you'd need is a sheet a carbon fiber and cover it in masking tape then use a hole saw....but yeah....i was gonna say...50 for $20 is a losing venture...lol

There is a fuck ton to a valve cover. Sr covers are baffled so youd need to add that, on top of inserts for the pcv and breather vents. On top of all of that you need to re-enforce where the cover bolts to the head.

Refer to thread title and build intentions.

Also, CF valve covers are complex pieces of art. They are not easy to make.

they are easy with the rite software and technology. Make a thick cabon block, then cnc it, cover in extra resin to bring back the shine and done. Now all you need is someone to make you a 3d model to be programmed into a mill.

Putting some thought to how I will mount the accessories. I'm thinking of placing the alt where the AC compressor originally would be. If I'm keeping the power steering I'm going to have another bracket to figure out as well. My main thought being Simplify, then add lightness.

FWD SR20DE - Notice how the alt mount is more compact - I like this design.

RWD SR20DET with aftermarket pulleys, stock acc. locations.

Engine is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, the 14th.

It looks like you would need to make a custom coolant inlet to clear the alternator in that position. Then you will also need to get a different hose to make it from the radiator to that location. That seems like a lot of screwing around to pull the alternator up and in a inch or two. Besides the stock location is lower which will give a lower roll center. Not that the 6-8 lb. alternator is going to make that much of a difference unless you are building a full on race car.

You did see where I said "I'm thinking of placing the alt where the AC compressor originally would be", right? bounce

My thinking was that I could make a combination alt/ps bracket to do away with both cast iron units. Otherwise running both with heim joint ends looks possible as well. The engine was rescheduled for delivery tomorrow, so I will have to take a look for myself.

I'm hemorrhaging money on this car. Working on selling my winter truck so I can buy more stuff I don't really need. Laughing

When it's back together the car will be epic. I know I can do under 2K lbs with some creativity.

no it won't. you don't understand what roll center is. center of gravity yes. RC no.
