PostSubject: New Wifey Car ideas...   Mon Oct 24, 2011 5:30 pm

So, Kendra is gonna be getting a new car soon, and I was wondering if anyone had some insight on a decently quick midsize car with potential. I'm looking at $30K give or take, and don't want anything Korean OR DSM.

So far I'm looking at-

-V6 Toyota Camry
-V6 Nissan Altima
- Nissan Maxima
- Subaru Impreza WRX

Mind you, it needs to be AUTOMATIC. Any and all input on these, or those that I've missed is appreciated.

Liz's mom has a Maxima (as you know) that car is very comfortable and quite quick for what it is. I think it gets pretty decent gas mileage for what it is as well. So that would be high on the list. And i do believe they can run on 87 or 89 (not just premium)

a WRX would be ALOT more fun, would be great in the snow and rain and is easily moddable. only thing with them is they carry the "boy racer" look and if she/you doesn't like that it won't be good. Might want to look into a Subaru Legacy GT? it's a bigger more adult WRX pretty much.

If you can swing it, or if your willing, look for a lightly used Lexus IS250/IS350. you can get those in AWD plus it would make you look important, plus they offer plenty of mods for those as well.

I haven't been in a new altima or a Camry but i've heard alot of GREAT things about the camry. My buddy who owns the dealership in Delavan has a few used (less then 10k mile camry's) if you guys wanna take one for a couple days and see if you want it i can see what i can do.

Just looked on the website. When you check auto, the WRX goes away. Sad

Apparently, the turbo motor only comes in manual.

I think Camry is the way we're leaning, but just wanted other inputs.

Don't have him dealer trade just yet, we're still in the beginning processes of this operation.

I've thought about it, but $39k is a little steep.

Used Lexus awd or Infiniti awd because of the snow. I don't know if Lexus makes the is350 in awd but if they did, that would be the pick as the is250 is slooow. I know the GS awd models came in bigger engines then 2.5 but is a GS midsize? Love the way they look though. Then you have the Infiniti with their awd in the G, and I think the M models are midsize too. I've always liked the Subaru Legacy aswell. The current models, not as much but still nice and at your price range, new. As for fwd, those you've listed would be my choice.

edit, the only lex is350 that came with awd are new and out of your posted price range.

Well the dealership that nick's buddy works at is a Ford dealer so they might be able to get it cheaper.

I think that the G35/G37 would be a good choice. I have driven a few and they are quite nice, quick and super comfortable and quite. The only gripe I had was they are a 2+2 seating arrangement, which is a not great if kids are in the future. Also its not quite a car but the Mazda CX-7 with the turbo motor is a really nice vehicle as well. It is damn quick and rides a lot like a car. It also has the option to run on 87 or premium as well. Good luck with the car search.
