 coolant reserve

so ive got a leak in my coolant reservoir, so currently my heat sucks. lol im not sure where its leaking from yet but ive looked up for a new one. and its much too expensive for a plastic bottle. are there any ways to fix my current one. or would i be better off buying a new one.?

better off buying a new one. You might be able to come up with something "creative" or look at junkyards/ebay for a coolant overlow tank/ reservoir and switch it out.

New one is easiest, but waterproof JB is a cheap fix. You will have to clean it first though, as antifreeze is a good slippery lube. Razz

find some random ass one that fits if you are to cheap for a new one. its not like it has to be exact. most cars have very similar bottles.

Also, looking at the original post, a reservoir leak will not cause a no heat issue. You sir, have another problem.

if you run out of coolant that doesn't help your heat much. but yeah you shouldn't be losing that much out of there.

You will only lose the expansion amount from heat. Old cars didn't have overflow bottles, it just spilled on the ground. You can thank hippies for the reservoirs.

Only to a certain point... It will get to a point where it won't overflow anymore.

at that point air pockets could block flow to the heater core. happened to a few cars I've worked on before

Do you smell coolant in the cabin area? Leaking heater core maybe?
